I had to reread the text message several times before I realized that the 10K request from my college daughter was NOT a plea for lavish senior-year funding.
OMG, she wants me to RUN a 10K. She actually thinks I’ve got 10 kilometers of “just do it” in me. Which soon gave way to… Awwwwwww. What a nice compliment from my super-fit 21-year-old daughter.

I myself keep clinging to the Staples commercial of the mom giddy with glee, throwing back to school items into her cart, sullen children lagging behind. Cue the classic Christmas tune, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year…”
